- Please follow the instructions below or watch the video.
- When unpacking the machine, remove the protective film, water tank, drip tray, and used capsule container. Adjust the cable length and store the excess cable in the cable guide located under the machine. Remove the sticker on the grid. You can register your machine.
- Plug the machine directly into 220 volt main. Rinse the water tank before filling it with drinking water, up to the maximum level.
- Turn the machine ON by pressing any button:
- Flashing lights: heating-up (18 seconds)
- White light: ready to use - Rinse the machine by placing a 500 ml container under the coffee outlet and pressing the LUNGO button. Repeat this process three times. Machines are fully tested after being produced. Some traces of coffee powder could be found in the rinsing water.
- Clean the milk jug, refer to the 'Cleaning Rapid Cappucino System' section.

- Lift the lever completely and insert the capsule.
- Close the lever and place a cup adapted to the beverage size under the coffee outlet.
- Press the ESPRESSO (40 ml) or LUNGO (110 ml) button. The preparation will stop automatically. To stop the coffee flow or top up your coffee, press the same button again.
NOTE: while the machine is heating up, you can pre-select your coffee by pushing the corresponding button. Please insert a capsule first. The coffee will flow automatically when the machine is ready. - Several seconds after the end of the preparation, lift and close the lever to eject the capsule into the used capsule container. Do not open the lever during the preparation process.

- Fill the milk container up to one of the 4 levels indicators. Place the lid and connect the Rapid Cappuccino System to the machine.
- CAUTION: the milk system has not been designed to work with non-dairy alternatives and does not work with water: use ONLY pasteurized /UHT cow's milk. It is not suitable for use for persons suffering from cow's milk allergies or intolerances.
- The machine will use the full quantity of milk and will stop automatically when empty.
For the perfect milk froth, use full fat milk or low fat milk at refrigerator temperature (about 4°C). The milk froth volume depends on the kind of milk that is used and its temperature. - Lift the lever completely and insert the capsule. Close the lever.
- Place a cup adapted to the quantity of milk you poured under the coffee outlet and adjust milk spout position by lifting it up to the right level.
- Press the MILK button. The preparation will start after approximately 15 seconds of flashing lights (the milk will be prepared first, followed by the coffee).
- At the end of the preparation, the clean alert will flash orange to indicate it is advisable to clean the Rapid Cappuccino System. It is necessary to clean the system if it will not be used shortly thereafter.
- Lift and close the lever to eject the capsule into the used capsule container.
- To prepare a second beverage, remove the milk container lid and fill the milk container up. Do not exceed the MAX. level. Repeat steps 1 to 6. CAUTION: when pouring the milk into the milk container, be careful to not spill the milk. If necessary, clean the milk spill with a damp cloth. Do not place the milk bottle on the milk container as this could cause the container to unhook from the machine.
- After up to 30 minutes of non-use following your milk recipe preparation, disassemble the milk jug (refer to the 'Assembling / Disassembling of Rapid Cappuccino System' section) and clean all six dismantled components in dishwasher or in warm, soapy water (refer to the 'Cleaning Rapid Cappuccino System' section). You should not prepare more than five milk beverages in a row. We recommend cleaning the Rapid Cappuccino System between each milk preparation.

- Please follow the instructions below or watch the video.
- Follow steps 1-2 of the 'coffee preparation' section.
- Touch and hold the ESPRESSO or LUNGO button for at least 3 seconds to enter the Programming Mode. The brewing will start and the button will flash quickly.
- Release the button when desired volume is reached. The desired coffee volume is now stored for the next coffee preparation. The button will flash 3 times to confirm that the coffee volume has been reprogrammed.

- Remove the milk jug and turn the machine ON.
NOTE: this procedure will reset coffee volumes & power-off timing to the default values. - Press the MILK button for 3 seconds to enter the Menu Mode: the descaling and cleaning alerts will start flashing.
- Press the MILK button. The button will flash to indicate that the machine is in Reset Mode. Press it to confirm. All of the buttons will flash three times: all of the volumes have been reset and the beverage quantities have been restored to their default settings. The machine will exit the menu automatically and return to Ready Mode.

- Remove the milk jug and turn the machine ON.
- Remove the water tank. Lift and close the lever to eject any remaining capsule. Place a container under the coffee outlet.
- Press the MILK drink button for 3 seconds to enter the Menu Mode: the descaling and cleaning alerts will start flashing.
- Press the MILK and LUNGO buttons simultaneously.
- The MILK button will flash to confirm that the machine is ready. Once pressed, the emptying will start. The coffee buttons will flash alternately: emptying is now in progress. When the process is complete, the machine will turn OFF automatically.
- NOTE: the appliance will be blocked for approximately 10 minutes after emptying.
- ATTENTION: storing the machine in a cold environment might cause damage by frost to the water circuit and create leakages.

- Disassemble the milk jug. Refer to the 'Assembling / Disassembling of Rapid Cappuccino System' section. Carefully rinse away any milk residue with hot drinking water. In case a dishwasher is not available, the Rapid Cappuccino System components can be hand-washed in warm, soapy water. The cleaning procedure must be performed after each use.
DISHWASHER: place the six dismantled components in the upper tray of your dishwasher and run a program at high temperature (50°/60°C).
HAND WASH: Soak all of the components in with hot drinking water together with mild/soft detergent for at least 30 minutes and then rinse thoroughly with hot drinking water. - Clean the interior of the milk tank with mild/soft detergent and rinse with hot drinking water. Do not use abrasive materials that might damage the surface of the equipment.
- Dry all of the components with a clean towel, cloth or paper and reassemble them correctly.
Descaling
Descaling
- Descale the machine when the descaling alert flashes orange in Ready Mode.
Please follow the instructions below or watch the video. - Lift and close the lever to eject any capsules in the used capsule container.
- Empty the drip tray and the used capsule container. Fill the water tank with 100 ml of Nespresso descaling agent (1 pouch). Add water up to the descaling mark on water tank (~500 ml).
- NOTE: Respect the quantity to ensure completion of the cycle.
- Take the descaling pipe at the back of the machine and plug it into the Rapid Cappucino System Connector of the machine.
- The machine will enter the Descaling Mode. The descaling alert will flash orange during the entire descaling process. The ESPRESSO button will then turn white.
- Place a container with a minimum capacity of 1 litre under both the coffee outlet and the descaling pipe.
- Press the ESPRESSO button. The descaling product will flow alternately through the coffee outlet, descaling the pipe and drip tray. When the descaling cycle is complete (when the water tank runs empty), the LUNGO button will turn white.
- Empty the used capsules container, drip tray recipient and container, rinse out and fill the water tank with fresh drinking water up to MAX. level.
- NOTE: Respect the quantity to ensure completion of the cycle.
- Press the LUNGO button. The rinsing cycle will continue through the coffee outlet, descaling pipe and drip tray until the water tank runs empty. During this phase, the LUNGO button will flash.
- Once the rinsing process is complete, the machine will turn off. Remove and store the descaling pipe. Empty the drip tray and used capsule container. Rinse the water tank and fill it with drinking water.
- Clean the machine using a damp cloth. The machine is now fully descaled.

- Take the water hardness sticker placed on the first page of the user manual and run it under water for 1 second.
- The number of red squares indicates the water hardness level.
- Remove the milk jug and turn the machine ON.
- Press the milk drink button for 3 seconds to enter the Menu Mode: the descaling and cleaning alerts will start flashing.
- Press the ESPRESSO button.
- Now, within 15 seconds, you can set the desired value by pressing the corresponding button (see table in the user manual). The button will flash 3 times rapidly to confirm that the new value has been registered. The machine will exit the menu automatically and return to Ready Mode.

- Remove the milk container by pressing the buttons on the sides of the milk jug. Unplug the aspiration tube.
- Position the milk spout vertically to disassemble and to reassemble.
- Press the button on the side of milk jug and pull to unlock the connector.

- Lift and close the lever to eject the capsule into the used capsule container. Remove the drip tray and capsule container. Empty and rinse these two components. Remove the water tank. Empty and rinse the water tank before filling it with drinking water. Clean the cup support and grid. Lift the removable grid and clean.
- Place a container under the coffee outlet and press the LUNGO button to rinse.
- Clean the coffee outlet and machine surface with a clean damp cloth.

- MANUAL POWER OFF: to turn the machine OFF, simultaneously press the ESPRESSO and LUNGO buttons. A 'click' will indicate that the machine is now turned OFF.
AUTOMATIC POWER-OFF: it is possible to program the automatic power-off time: remove the milk jug and turn the machine ON. - Press the MILK button for 3 seconds to enter the Menu Mode: the descaling and cleaning alerts will start flashing.
NOTE: the Menu mode will only be activated for 30 seconds. You can also exit the Menu mode manually by pressing the MILK button for 3 seconds. - Press the LUNGO button to enter the Power-Off Menu. The cleaning & descaling alert indicators will then turn off. Then, one of the recipe buttons will start flashing, indicating the current power-off settings.
- Now, within 15 seconds, you can set the desired value by pressing the corresponding button. The button will flash 3 times rapidly to confirm the new value. The machine will automatically exit the Menu Mode, and return to the Ready Mode.
- MILK button: 2 minutes
- LUNGO button: 9 minutes
- ESPRESSO button: 30 minutes
No light indicator.
- Check the mains, plug, voltage, and fuse. In case of problems, call Nespresso on 8001166612.
No coffee, no water.
- Water tank is empty. Fill water tank.
- Descale if necessary; see Descaling section.
Coffee comes out very slowly.
- Flow speed depends on the coffee variety.
- Descale if necessary; see Descaling section.
Coffee is not hot enough.
- Preheat cup.
- Descale if necessary; see Descaling section.
Capsule area is leaking (water in capsule container).
- Position capsule correctly. If leakages occur, call Nespresso on 8001166612.
No coffee, just water runs out (despite inserted capsule).
- Make sure that the capsule is inserted correctly.
- Make sure that the capsule is not damaged.
- If the problem persists, call Nespresso on 8001166612.
Any other flashing malfunction that is not detailed in the troubleshooting section.
- Send appliance to repair or call Nespresso on 8001166612.
All buttons blink simultaneously for 10 seconds and then machine switches off automatically.
- Error alarm, machine needs repair. Send appliance to repair or call Nespresso on 8001166612.
All 3 buttons blinking fast 3 times and then machine goes back in ready mode.
- Water tank is empty.
Descaling and cleaning alert blink.
- The machine is in Menu Mode. Press the MILK button for 3 seconds to exit the Menu Mode or wait 30 seconds to exit automatically.
The descaling alert is flashing in orange.
- The machine automatically triggers the descaling alert according to the type and number of beverages dispensed. Please descale the machine.
The descaling alert is flashing in orange and the ESPRESSO button is white
- The machine is in Descaling Mode. Press the ESPRESSO button to start the descaling process.
The descaling alert has turned orange, and the beverage buttons are unavailable
- The machine is blocked because it needs to be descaled. Descale machine.
The coffee and milk recipe buttons are flashing alternately
- The machine is in Overheat Protection Mode. Wait until it returns to Ready Mode.
- The appliance will be blocked for approximately 10 minutes after emptying.
Lever cannot be closed completely.
- Empty capsule container. Make sure that no capsule is blocked inside the capsule container.
Quality of Milk froth is not up to standard.
- Use full fat milk or low fat milk at refrigerator temperature (about 4° C).
- Rinse after each milk preparations (see section "Hand Washing of Rapid Cappuccino System").
- Descale the machine (refer to section "Descaling").
- Do not use frozen milk.
- Ensure the air aspiration part is clean. Refer to the section "Hand washing of Rapid Cappuccino System".
Cannot enter Menu Mode.
- Remove the milk jug.
- Press MILK button for 3 seconds.
- Remove the descaling pipe.
- It is not possible to enter into Menu Mode while the machine is heating up.
Milk jug cannot be dismantled.
- Press the buttons on the sides of the milk jug to remove the parts.
- Refer to section "Assembling / Disassembling of Rapid Cappuccino System".
The milk is not dispensing (cleaning alert is orange).
- The machine has prepared more that 5 milk beverages without being cleaned. Action: clean the Rapid Cappuccino System.
- Overtime milk preparation. Action: clean the Rapid Cappuccino System.
- Over 30 minutes have elapsed since the last milk preparation. Action: clean the Rapid Cappuccino System.
The machine emits a sound when it turns OFF.
- This sound indicates that the machine is now OFF.
In the event of accidental milk spillage, unplug the machine
- Immediately clean the machine very thoroughly.
